Mission:
Pony World Theater (PWT) is an ensemble of artists who create playful and evocative performances that engage audiences in meaningful questions. We combine striking visuals, elastic realities, and boundless imagination into uncommon narratives. Name: Our name, Pony World, references a point in the creative process when anything is still possible—when everyone can have their own pony. By infusing our entire process with this spirit, the company strives to create theatre that delights as it reveals, excites as it transforms.
Charter:
We believe the world as we currently know it needs to be broken. The right story at the right time can break it. To do this, we tell stories that embrace the exceptional qualities of theatre and could only be presented on stage. We embrace the importance of inclusive casting and representing a diversity of voices. We also pledge that our work will be economically accessible to everyone.
History:
Formed in 2009, the company chose the name "Pony World" as a reference to a point in the creative process when anything is still possible--when everyone can have their own pony. PWT’s work has been praised by audiences and critics. Their play Suffering, Inc., an original work, was cited by the Seattle Times as one of the top seven plays of the last decade. Critics have called their work “Powerful and profound”(The Stranger) and “Masterful (Broadwayworld.com) and “Unexpected, inventive, and deranged” (The Seattle Times). PWT has presented 12 full-length productions, 15 short works, and several short videos.
