WHAT SHUNPIKE DOES

Accept Tax-Exempt Donations for Your Arts Group

Our fiscal sponsorships allow independent arts groups the ability to raise funds for their artistic projects using our tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) organization. That means arts groups and organizations can offer tax-deductible receipts to donors and may be eligible to apply for government and foundation grant programs usually only available to organizations with 501(c)(3) status. Start funding your art today!

We offer two levels of fiscal sponsorship:

1. Basic Fiscal Sponsorship
2. Comprehensive Fiscal Sponsorship

Manage Your Arts Business, Project, or Creative Enterprise

Providing arts business advice has been a cornerstone of Shunpike's services for independent artists and arts groups since the organization was established in 2001. Whether you have questions about the relative benefit of different organization structures, or want to learn more about fundraising, marketing, board development, managing money, events, risks, or people, Shunpike is a reliable, practical, and affordable resource.

We offer two entry points for accessing arts business advice from seasoned arts professionals:

1. Arts Business Clinics
2. Arts Business Dates

Transform Your Community

Storefronts is an innovative arts program that activates communities, neighborhoods and streets by matching the work of local artists with vacant or under-utilized retail space. These installations are generally 2-D or 3-D artworks installed in a locked storefront, display window or vitrine, for a period of four to six months.

Storefronts engages artists, property owners, neighborhood associations, and local government in a new way, reducing vagrancy and encouraging rental of these spaces. Since 2010, the program has activated multiple Seattle neighborhoods and nearly 200 artists have participated.
