Seattle Irish Dance Company (SIDC) was founded in 2012 by a group of former competitive Irish dancers who wanted to create an opportunity to perform professionally in the Pacific Northwest. The company was born out of a desire to keep Irish dance vibrant and relevant by moving beyond competition into the realms of performance, collaboration, and community engagement.
Our vision is to preserve the roots of Irish dance while expanding its possibilities as a contemporary performance art. We are committed to making dance accessible, inclusive, and community-centered, whether that means inviting an audience to join us in a pub, performing alongside musicians, or teaching workshops to dancers of all skill levels. SIDC aims to create opportunities for both dancers and audiences to engage deeply with Irish culture while recognizing the art form’s ability to connect across cultural and generational lines.
Our Values
Irish dance as art. We are grounded in tradition, but push boundaries as a contemporary performance art. We respect our roots, but we’re not limited by them. Irish dance is influenced by and influences other movement forms.
Community matters. Moving together is magic. We create opportunities to perform, participate, educate, and learn.
Movement with an open mind. Irish dance can be a full-body dance style. We provide the space to explore this idea through a variety of lenses, from lively pub shows to full stage productions.
