The mission of the Salish Sea Players is to bring professional, intimate Baroque chamber music concerts to audiences unable to attend traditional venues. Our primary focus is to share our passion with audiences in retirement, nursing, memory care and long-term care facilities.

Linda and JonathanSalish Sea Players arrives at the concert venue early in order to great our audience and hand out a printed program as they enter the room. Once everyone is settled we start the performance. We talk about the music and our instruments and field questions. After the 1 hour performance we mingle with the audience and hear some of their stories.

Many of our audience speak to us about memories that the music haLinda and Karen s brought back-sitting at the feet of a sibling while they practiced, hearing a loved one perform, remembering a beloved instrument lost in the war, or remembering past concerts that were attended. Many of our audience can longer get out to concerts and they have expressed how happy they are to have us bring the music to them. Sometimes an audience member can longer speak but they move and dance with their hands to the music.

Performing for memory care facilities is especially rewarding. The Activities Directors tell us that the residents become calm as they listen to the music. Many move with the music as  we play or sing along when they recognize a tune.

Linda Melsted, baroque violin, Karen Fardal, baroque cello, and Jonathan Oddie, harpsichord are regular performers. Sometimes we have guest performers who just want to join in the fun.
