We build imagination, resilience, and creativity in our community through long-form improv.

We include our youth in their own performance team, our elders through the Senior Center, and people with disabilities through our work with Stephen's House. We have many participants who are neurodivergent. We are inclusive of all walks of life in our collaborations, and offering more scholarships will make us even more accessible.

By working with the more seasoned adult team, the youth team learns to collaborate with each other and across ages, they learn to be in front of an audience and find joy despite the nerves (emotional regulation). We all get to be our silliest selves, and build a trust that allows us to exploredeeper emotion and aspects of ourselves that we might normally might not ever know existed.

One of the primary aspects of BIC is a sense of belonging we feel and sense of having each other's back, because good improv requires an improvisor to accept, make room for, and support each other on stage. Each performance is preceded by an exchange of "I've got your back" between everyone.

The muscle of imagination is also being built with improv. This ability allows the mind to see new potentials. There is an abundance of positive emotion in this, which research shows allows us to see more possibilities and develop more resources, creating resilience. A sense of belonging, the ability to collaborate, the exploration of our soul's depths, the creativity and resilience all become baked into our community through our work.
